Building Something Precious: The Story Behind Our Wedding Ring Workshop

When you’re planning a wedding, there are so many details to consider: the venue, the food, the flowers, the outfits. But there’s one part of the day that lasts a lifetime, your wedding rings.

For us, rings aren’t just jewellery. They’re symbols of your promise, your story, and the life you’ll build together. That’s why we created WanderRing Studios: a space where couples can design and handcraft rings that are truly their own.

This idea started with something very personal. A few years ago, I had the privilege of making a ring with my father-in-law. It wasn’t part of a business plan at the time, just a meaningful experience. Sitting together at the workbench, talking, laughing, and learning as the ring slowly took shape, I realised how much more powerful jewellery becomes when you’re part of its creation.

That one afternoon sparked something. I kept thinking: what if other couples could have this too? Not just a ring you buy from a display case, but something you’ve poured love and care into with your own hands. Something imperfectly perfect, just like a relationship.

From that seed, our workshop was born.

Why Make Your Own Wedding Rings?

We’ve found that couples come to us for many reasons:

  • Meaning: A ring you’ve crafted together carries memories that no shop-bought ring can replicate.
  • Connection: Spending time in the workshop gives you a break from the stress of planning, a chance to slow down and do something creative together.
  • Craftsmanship: You’ll be guided by an experienced jeweller, so even if you’ve never picked up a tool before, you’ll leave with professional-quality rings.
  • Sustainability: We can talk through options for recycled metals or ethical sourcing, so your rings reflect your values as well as your style.

What the Experience Feels Like

Imagine the workshop coming to your place of comfort, stepping out of the usual wedding noise. After setup you’ll be shown the tools, and guided through each stage, from forming the metal to shaping and finishing your rings. You don’t need any experience; our role is to make sure you feel relaxed and confident every step of the way.

By the end, you’ll leave not only with rings but with a memory that becomes part of your wedding story. Many couples tell us the workshop feels like a highlight of their journey, even more than they expected.

Building in Public

Launching this workshop has been a little like making that first ring with my father-in-law exciting, nerve-wracking, and full of small discoveries. We’re building this openly and honestly, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

That means sharing the process: the little triumphs, the challenges, and the stories of couples who join us along the way. If you’re reading this, you’re part of the very beginning.
